Here are the three options we have so far:
1. MSN Messenger
This is what we have been doing up until today. It is easy to access, and you can type quite a bit per entry. However, it forbids access to anyone who isn't registered, and we can also see everyone's email addresses, which may lead our celebrities to not want to join the chat.
2. Parachat
We sampled this today. You don't have to register, it protects your contact information, you don't need anything on your computer except Java, and you can choose your own name. On the other hand, accessing the chat is difficult, and the people in the dangerous "Lobby Area" (12 year old kids talking about sex) can contact us while we are logged on... (The chatroom itself is safe - it is password protected - but we are on some bigger list somewhere and people can private message us)
3. ChatandTalk.com
I was speaking with the administrator of this site today. Currently we can chat without registering, and our contact information will be protected... It is also easy to access. I am unsure as to what plug-ins this needs to work, but it works on my computer. Also nice is that this site is geared towards Kenyans, and anyone who may join our chat while we have taken over the chat forum are people who can contribute. On the other hand, we have already learned two systems, and on this chat currently you either have to register or settle for the name guest### (they assign the numbers arbitrarily). David says he is working on changing this by Wednesday, though.
What do you guys think?
